Tom Boonen Eddy Merckx emx-7
Tom Boonen certainly doesn’t need any introductions, but his bike setup is certainly worthy of a discussion. It certainly appears that Tom is a life long member of the “Slam that Stem” club.
No Pro bike is complete without their name on it, and the World Champion Stripes if you are good enough to have earned them.
When you are one of the World’s best, this is what your workplace looks like. And it’s all about getting the job done. And in Tom’s case, that means beating the worlds best in the hardest races that our sport has to offer.
Eddy Merckx + Tom Boonen + Campagnolo = A Winning Combo
Tom may have switched to narrower bars in the final years of his career, but he liked em wide on this one.
When you’ve got Tom’s power, then you mash 177.5’s, and wear those chainrings down quick.
A couple of battle scars, if only they could talk.
Mathieu van der Poel Stevens Prestige Disc
Mathieu van der Poel is from a cycling family dynasty, and the cycling world haven’t seen anything like him before. Junior World Champion on the Road, Multiple World Cyclocross Champion, Amstel Gold Race winner, and has also been tearing up the World Cup Mountain Bike Circuit. The word phenom is not an exaggeration with Mathieu.
Dutch Champion stripes for the Sniper, and why not add the crosshairs for good measure.
Custom Paint Job and your name on the seat tube, check and check. Dugast handmade tires, check. Dura-Ace Di2, check. Heart, legs, and lungs of a one in a million, check, check, and check.
Here at the Goat, we have strong ties to Hamburg, Germany, so the fact that Mathieu’s Stevens Prestige Disc proudly displays “das Hamburg Logo”, is just the icing on the cake.
Guy Nulens Panasonic pr6000
Guy Nulens may not be the greatest cycling name that you’ve ever heard, but he was perhaps one of the most loyal, hardest working, and most professional riders of his generation.
Theo de Rooij, one of Guy’s teammates on the dominant Panasonic cycling team told us that no other rider stayed as loyal to Peter Post, the team director, than Guy did. And that no rider maintained his own bike as meticulously as Guy Nulens.
There is sometimes beauty in simple elegance.
1961 SCHWINN PARAMOUNT TRACK BIKE
Beyond it just being an amazingly cool vintage track bike, it’s also been ridden by the greatest superhero that we’ve ever known, our Dad.
Originally used and abused on the local and National Track Circuit, this classic bike was gifted to a young, aspiring bike racer to help his development as a cyclist. Sadly the track career was abandoned quickly for road races and criteriums and this Paramount then spent decades of being ridden by our dad on a trainer. It’s safe to say that he spent more time on that bike and trainer than most of us ever will.
Beautiful chrome Nervex lugs really make this bike beautiful. Their shape and their shine give this bike a timeless style that will last forever.
Some things just belong together, Schwinn Paramounts and Campagnolo components are one such pairing. Both brands have certainly earned their Olympic and World Champion winning pedigrees.
Those rings and those colors are earned, and Schwinn most certainly earned their rights to use them.
